Review

One of the most patient and philosophically rich films ever made. Tarkovsky uses the science fiction premise — three men journeying through a forbidden zone toward a room that supposedly grants wishes — purely as a vehicle for exploring faith, desire, and the terror of getting what you want. The landscape is extraordinary. The silences are longer than most films' dialogue. I have thought about it every week since I watched it.
